Bert has extensive experience across all aspects of sailboat racing, from dinghies to sportsboat and big boat series. This is his second Volvo Ocean Race experience after part engagement with Team Delta Lloyd in the 2008/09 Volvo Ocean Race.

• North Sea record holder with VOR 70 Delta Lloyd (boatcaptain)
• Skiff’s: World- and European championships in the 49er as helmsman. Crewing in the 18’skiffs, best rookie team in the last JJ Giltinan.
• Awarded as most talented youth team in the Netherlands 2009 due to results in the Tour de France à la Voile, 2nd place in student ranking (skipper)
• Awarded as best boat overall in the Netherlands 2009, team Roark(trimmer/helmsman)
